MVP United Lessons are open to any athlete who would like to elevate their level of play!
Our monthly lessons offer year-round training for volleyball players in Siouxland and the surrounding areas. From small groups to camps, we offer specialized and general skills training for volleyball players wishing to take their game to a higher level. Our lessons provide consistent training for our players, with standardized drills and philosophies to help our athlete's development transition smoothly from year to year.
Thank you so much for your overwhelming response to our lessons again this month! Most of the lessons are full already but you can still register to be on a waitlist for a particular lesson and no payment will be required at this time. We will do our absolute best to get some classes added because we don't want anyone to have to miss out! We will contact athletes who are on the waitlist first to fill those spots!
The cost for June Sessions (4 lessons/session) is $90. Registration will open at 7am on Friday, May 15th. All registrations must come though our website. ( www.mvpvolley.org) The lesson spots fill quickly so plan to register early to increase your chance of getting into the lesson(s) of your choice. A confirmation e-mail with lesson rosters and details will be sent by 9pm on Sunday, May 31st.
All June lessons will be held at the CNOS Fieldhouse Building in North Sioux City, SD (300 Centennial Drive).
The United Sports Academy has implemented multiple safety measures to minimize the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The specific protocol we will be following will be included in the confirmation email sent to athletes/families. Most importantly, per recommendations of health officials, we are minimizing the number of participants in each lesson and no spectators will be allowed in the gym.
Which level lesson you should sign your daughter up for?
We have put together a reference key below to help. Even if you have been involved in Coach Pruett’s lessons before, it is important that you read through the following description of the levels and sign your daughter up for the one that best fits her age/grade & experience at the current time. It is important that athletes have a thorough understanding of the basic fundamentals of the specific skill being taught at an age/skill appropriate level before signing up for a more advanced class. Coach Pruett will let athletes know when he feels it would be beneficial for them to progress on to lessons above their actual age/grade level.
BEGINNER - Athletes in 3rd - 6th grade.
INTERMEDIATE - Athletes in 7th - 8th grade who have previous lesson training and/or some club experience. (Athletes in 9-12th grade who have not had much lesson training or Club experience may be a good fit in this level as well)
ADVANCED - Athletes in 9th - 12th grade who have previous lesson experience and/or High School and Club experience.
Beginner setting lessons will cover individual setting skills such as: hand placement on ball, movement to the ball, proper form and consistency.
Practice, Practice, Practice is the name of the game! Beginner All Skills Lessons will focus on proper technique in passing, setting, hitting and serving. We will breakdown the fundamentals of each skill in these lessons.
Intermediate Defense Lessons will focus on accurate serve receive, proper posture, correct movement and J-stroke passing/digging. Serving will focus on zone/spot serving (short, medium & deep) and effective serving mentalities.
Pin Hitter training will focus on footwork, approach patterns, different weapons (tips, roll shots, tooling the block, cut shots, corner shots), seeing the block, and reading the opponent’s defense from both the Outside Hitter and Right Side Hitter positions.
Our Middle Training will focus on transition and footwork techniques of the middle hitter. Our MH's will learn transition foot work coming off the block and work on attacking quick tempo sets (1’s, 32’s and slides). In addition, these lessons will focus on proper footwork and blocking technique.
Outside Hitter Training will focus on teaching the outside hitter the skills it takes to be a 6 rotation player. In addition to teaching a variety of shots from the front row, we will also focus on back row attacking and overall ball control. The key to being a great OH is to be good at all skills, so we will attack, pass and serve during this training!
This training is designed for liberos and defensive players who want to learn more about their position. Athletes will get a lot of specific training and learn techniques that will help them become more consistent. Skills covered include serve receive, individual defense, overhead digging, playing the second ball, serving, and learning how to properly dive and make emergency and recovery moves.
